GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Grand Rapids police have placed a man in custody after a three-hour standoff ended on Garfield Avenue SE.

Officers attempted to make contact with Vendyken Thursday at his house on the 900 block of Garfield Ave. SE, but he fled into the house and refused to exit. GRPD negotiators were at the scene attempting to convince him to come out. At around 7 PM, Vendyken was arrested.

Police were at the home investigating a housing violation complaint. While inspecting the rear of the house, they found a stolen vehicle and some car parts.

Vendyken's preliminary examination is scheduled for November 5, 2015.
