Three people dead in Van Buren Co. crash

94th Avenue and M-40, near Marcellus - from Van Buren Co. Sheriff

VAN BUREN CO., Mich. – Three people are dead after an early morning crash near the town of Marcellus, Michigan.

The one-car crash happened was reported at 8:00am on 94th Avenue near M-40, according to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office.

One of the victims, the driver, was a 21-year-old Vicksburg man.  His name has not yet been released. The other two victims were a 15-year-old male and a 16-year-old girl from Vicksburg.  Their names have not yet been released, but grief counselors will be on hand Friday at Vicksburg Public Schools.

When deputies arrived, all three victims were trapped in the vehicle, a 1999 Ford Taurus.  The car was no longer warm and investigators believe that the crash happened much earlier overnight.

Investigators believe that the car was traveling west on 94th Avenue and missed a curve in the roadway. The car hit a tree and then rolled several times before coming to rest in the woods.
