HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A woman with a concealed pistol license is charged with assault with intent to murder after firing her gun during a road rage incident Tuesday evening.

The Macomb County Sheriff says the incident happened at the intersection of Crocker and Metropolitan Parkway at about 5:45 p.m.

Police and witnesses say that a 40-year-old man from Warren stopped next to the woman’s SUV and confronted her about her driving. The man says he got out of his 2003 Chevy pickup truck, but he says he stayed on his side of the vehicle.  The argument escalated, and he got back into his truck, unrolled the passenger side window, and threw a soft-drink at the woman’s vehicle.

According to the man, the woman then pulled out a gun and shot a round at his truck.  He called 911.

About the same time, the woman called 911 to report that she had been in a road rage incident and had fired her handgun.  She told police that the man had walked around his vehicle and approached hers and threw a cup of liquid in her face.  She told police she was “scared for her life,” so she pulled out her gun and fired.

Police say they found a Kel-Tec 9mm Luger handgun in the door pocket of her Lexus RX330.  They also found a bullet hole in door and a shattered window in the man’s pickup.

The woman, India McDougal, 36, was charged with three counts, including assault with intent to murder, a felony firearm charge, and possession of a controlled substance of less than 25 grams.  The man is also facing several misdemeanor charges.
