ST. JOSEPH, Mich. – A 70-year old man was killed Sunday morning in a moped crash in St. Joseph.
The crash happened at about 11:30am at the corner of Main and Pearl Street, according to the St. Joseph Department of Public Safety.
According to witnesses, the man was riding a moped west on Pearl when he went to cross Main. There were two vehicles, one in each lane southbound Main. The first driver was able to stop, but the man fell off his moped trying to avoid the collision. He fell into the path of the second vehicle, which was not able to stop in time.
The moped driver died at the scene. His name has not yet been released.
Investigators say that alcohol was not a factor in the crash. The investigation into the crash is continuing.
