GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Anita Lawhorn, the mother of the youngest convicted murderer in Kent County, will remain in jail while she awaits her sentencing on child abuse charges.

Lawhorn was in court Wednesday for a hearing and her bond was revoked for testing positive for alcohol.  She will remain in custody until her sentencing for her previous conviction which is November 24.

Lawhorn’s son, Jamarion, now 13, was convicted in September of killing 9-year-old Connor Verkerke in August 2014.  Anita Lawhorn was convicted of abusing and neglecting Jamarion.  Jamarion’s step-father pleaded guilty to also abusing the boy.
