ROBINSON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — An early morning burglary attempt led Ottawa County authorities to two men who are now believed to be connected to a string of business break-ins in the area.

A 36-year-old man from Nunica and a 22-year-old man from Grand Haven Township are currently lodged in the Ottawa County Jail.

Police said the two men attempted to rob the Yellow Jacket Restaurant, 12011 Lake Michigan Dr., around 2 a.m. Sunday. The burglar alarms sounded, and police found evidence of forced entry but did not find any suspect on scene when they arrived.

However, police tracked down the suspects who were inside their vehicle parked in the 12000 block of Rich Street near the restaurant.

Police carried out search warrants at several locations in the northwestern area of the county and found property had been stolen from several businesses.

The men are expected to be charged with at least one county of burglary each, but police said more charges are likely.

The men’s names will be released once they’ve been arraigned.
