GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - A long-time Grand Rapids company is looking to expand after receiving an $800,000 grant from the Michigan Strategic Fund.

Notions Marketing wants to add 115,000 square feet to their distribution facilities, including a new $33 million building and renovating their facility at 600 Cottage Grove SE.  The upgrades in equipment and the building means an estimated 250 new jobs at the company.

The new building will be 50 feet tall and add 80,000 square feet to the already existing one million square feet that the company currently owns and operates. The company says that the new technology and space will help them deliver products to their customers faster and help them continue to grow the 77-year old company.

The company says they added 550 jobs earlier this year and have recently raised wages for warehouse employees and implemented a program for other employees to earn 30% bonuses on their wages.  The new 250 positions can be applied for at www.notionsmarketing.com.

Notions Marketing says they are the world’s largest distributor of creative arts products, representing national/international retailers and shipping to locations in 87 countries.

The company plans on breaking ground on the new facility in January and have it completed by 2017.
