GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Authorities worked to rescue a man who was trapped after a pallet of steel beams fell on him at a Grand Rapids business Tuesday evening.

Firefighters say the injured worker, a 43-year-old male, called around 7:25 p.m. from Steel Supply & Engineering, located at 1222 Burton Street SE.

The worker was extricated and taken to the hospital for treatment.  His exact injuries are yet to be released, but firefighters say he's believed to be in stable condition after suffering injuries to his lower extremities.

Twenty-six GRFD firefighters responded to the scene, said Battalion Chief Todd Vanderwall, and everyone was used to get the injured worker free.  The pallet that fell included fiveto six I-beams beams approximately 20 feet in length.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
