Search on for suspect in Ottawa Co. home invasions, auto thefts

ALLENDALE, Mich. - Ottawa County investigators are asking for help in locating a suspect in a string of home invasions and auto thefts from last week.

The crimes occurred in the Georgetown Township and Allendale areas on Tuesday, October 20.  One of the vehicles stolen, a 1999 Chevy Suburban, was found on October 21 at the end of River Street in Jenison, abandoned and burned.

Investigators say that evidence from that scene lead them to believe that they are looking for Emilio Dwayne Melton, 18, as a suspect in the crimes.  A two-county felony warrant has been issued for Melton for Arson and Receiving and Concealing Stolen Property.  Investigators say Melton is from the Grand Rapids area.

More suspects are likely involved and more charges are expected.
