ROCKFORD, Mich. — A 17-year-old has been charged after officials say he made a threat against Rockford schools.

According to the Kent County Sheriff’s Department, Jagar Ray Schwartz wrote “I’m not complaining, I’m just gonna shoot everybody up,” on Instagram in mid-September.

Schwartz made the alleged threat because he was mad that he was being made to repeat the 11th grade, according to the sheriff’s department.

He is charged with making a false threat of terrorism and could face up to 20 years in prison.   He remains behind bars on a $20,000 bond.

According to the Kent County Sheriff’s Department, Silent Observer officials received a tip about the threat several days after Schwartz allegedly posted it.

Schwartz is also facing charges in unrelated break-in and property destruction incidents in August and September.

The first happened Aug. 24 at Grand Rapids E-Liquid on Northland Dr. NE.   Schwartz and two others broke into the store after throwing a rock through a window, according to the Kent County Sheriff’s Department.   He’s facing a breaking and entering charge in connection with that incident.

Schwartz is charged with malicious destruction of property between $200 and $1,000 for a Sept. 27 incident at the Plainfield Township office building, 6161 Belmont Ave. NE, according to the sheriff’s department.

A 16-year-old was expelled for his involvement in a string of separate threats against Rockford schools.   He pleaded guilty in August.

He was charged as a juvenile with making false threats of terrorism, but the plea deal meant he received probation and rehabilitation instead of time in jail.
