The polls opened at 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday for voters around the state of Michigan to weigh in on issues that will impact the communities in which they live.
Among the many items voters will find on their ballots -- depending on where they are voting -- are bids from former Representatives Todd Courser and Cindy Gamrat, who are both fighting to gain their seats back after they were ejected from the state House after sex scandal made national headlines.
Also up for vote on Tuesday is a bond issue from the Grand Rapids Public School District that asks voters to approve $175 million that would go towards technology and building upgrades. It would be paid for through increased property taxes spread out over 25 years.
In Kalamazoo, there is a mayoral election as well as a proposal that would increase property taxes to help homeless families.
