BATTLE CREEK, Mich. - A Battle Creek woman has rescued a cat after it was shot by a crossbow bolt.

Laurie Sullivan says she noticed the cat laying her yard with the bolt through the nape of its neck.  She took it to the vet who removed the bolt.

"This guy should make a full recovery in time and go on to lead a normal happy kitty life," said Laurie Sullivan.

The vet tells us he thinks the bolt may have been in there for at least two days, but removal was fairly easy. The cat does have a slight infection, but is expected to recover.

The cat is currently on medication and under Sullivan's care.

"Animals are so forgiving that someone can hurt them so horrifically, still they’ll come to you, pur and play and carry on like it wasn’t a person that did this," Sullivan said.

Police are still looking for the person or persons who did this to the cat. If you have any information call the Battle Creek Police Department or Silent Observer.

As for the rescued cat, if you are interested in taking him home call Turner Veterinary Clinic in Battle Creek.
