MT. CLEMENS, Mich. – A Mt. Clemens man was arrested Thursday afternoon for allegedly beating his neighbor who supposedly was blowing leaves onto his property.

Jerry Ficht, 57, was charged with Assault with Intent to Commit Great Bodily Harm (less than murder).

The Macomb County Sheriff’s department reports that Ficht became upset when he saw his 52-year-old neighbor using a leaf blower on the leaves.  Ficht reportedly began screaming at the man and then punched him until he fell to the ground. The man was found lying on the ground in the grass, bleeding from his ear.

The assault apparently stopped when the man’s girlfriend came out of their mobile home with a handgun and told Ficht to stop or she would shoot.  The woman, 68, is licensed to carry a concealed weapon and the gun was legally registered to her.

Ficht is being held on $10,000 bond.
