BYRON CENTER, Mich. -- A person's body was found Tuesday after a car was pulled from a pond in Byron Center.

A dive team was called to a pond in the 2000 block of 84th Street SW near Byron Center Manor at about 10:45 a.m., according to the Kent County Sheriff's Department. A car was pulled from the water just before 11 a.m.

Employees at the Cook Funeral Home which partially owns the pond with the manor tell FOX 17 that they were putting a star on their pine tree for the holidays when they saw the roof of the vehicle from their lift.

The Kent County Sheriff's deputies and dive team searched the car and checked the license plate. It is registered to a man who has been missing from Wyoming since 2006.  They are checking with dental records and DNA records before releasing the man's identification.
