GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Hunters all over Michigan are getting ready for open firearm deer season, fine tuning their gear with hopes of taking a trophy buck this Sunday.
There are a couple of things to keep in mind before heading out on the trail, than just rocking the blaze orange clothing. If you don't follow DNR regulations, you can lose your hunting privileges for three years.
Firearms deer season runs from November 15 until November 30. If you are hunting with a rifle, you need to be north of the rifle line, which is just north of Kent County. The line protects hunters in the southern, more populated areas, which is the shotgun zone.
Also, no using high-powered rifles. You can use a shotgun slug.
