LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. — One person was injured following a crash involving a school bus and a minivan Tuesday morning.

It happened at 8:10 a.m. on Red Arrow Highway at County Road 681 in Lawrence Township. The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office said that deputy Loren Tarner was in the area and heard the sound of a minivan colliding with a Hartford Public School bus at that time.

Police said the minivan contained four occupants. Three passengers were uninjured and the driver, Alex Dudley, 38, of Dowagiac was transported to Bronson Lakeview Hospital in Paw Paw with left arm injuries.

The bus contained a driver and 22 student passengers. None were injured.

Police said Dudley was at fault. They said he was distracted by his children in the back seat and pulled into the bus’ path.

The Lawrence Fire Department, Lawrence Quick Response Team, Van Buren Emergency Medical Services and Pokagon Tribal Police Department assisted at the scene.
