Kalamazoo officer dies after fight with breast cancer

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – A Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officer and K9 handler has died after a battle with breast cancer.

Sgt. Zuk was a 14 ½ year veteran of Public Safety who served as a Public Safety Officer, K-9 Handler, Field Training Officer, Recruiter, and a Sergeant in the Edison Neighborhood.  Her K9 partner was Ori.

She graduated from Kalamazoo Valley Community College with an associates degree and then completed her Bachelors Degree at Western Michigan University.

She was best known in the area for driving a pink patrol car, which was given to her as a gift from KDPS after she was began her battle with breast cancer.

The visitation for Zuk will be Sunday, December 6 from 1:00pm – 4:00pm and 5:00pm – 8:00pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes – Westside Chapel on 9th Street in Kalamazoo.  The funeral will be Monday, December 7 at 11:00am.
