HOPKINS TWP., Mich.  An Allegan man is dead after an early morning crash Tuesday.

The crash was discovered by a passerby at about 5:00am on 128th Avenue, east of Hopkins.  The passerby found a vehicle up against a tree with severe damage and the first deputy that arrived at the scene found the driver, a 22-year-old man, dead in the vehicle.

The crash happened in a curved portion of 128th Avenue.  The initial investigation shows that the vehicle was heading east on 128th and went off the road after failing to make the curve.  The vehicle went through a ditch, hit several trees and rolled over before coming to rest against another tree.

The driver has been identified as Evan Haffner. The investigation is continuing, but police say that evidence at the scene shows that drugs may have been a factor in the crash.
