WYOMING, Mich. — A crash on northbound US-131 just north of 28th Street closed the freeway around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday. Police closed the expressway at 36th Street. The crash was cleared and all lanes reopened around 5:35 a.m.
Details of just what happened and what happened to the people involved were not available, but all lanes of the highway were shut down.
Traffic was routed off the highway at 36th Street, but drivers could not use Clyde Park Avenue, because that street was still closed due to Tuesday morning’s water main break just south of 28th Street. Drivers needed to use Division Avenue between 36th Street and Burton Street.
Later in the morning, the northbound lanes of US-131 were completely blocked again around 7 a.m., this time just north of Burton Street. Since neither vehicle was driveable, reopening the highway was delayed until wreckers arrived. Traffic backed up very quickly and was stop-and-go from 44th Street.
US-131 reopened at about 8:30am.
