Two women injured in late-night Kentwood crash

KENTWOOD, Mich. — Two women are recovering after being seriously injured in a crash Saturday night.

Just after 11:00 p.m., a car driving east on 36th Street ran a red light at East Paris Avenue.  At the intersection it struck a minivan traveling south on East Paris.

Both women had to be extricated from their vehicles.

The driver of the car was a 20-year-old from Cascade.  She was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition. The driver of the minivan was a 55-year-old from Hastings. She was reportedly in serious but stable condition late Saturday.  Their names are not being released at this time.

Police believe that alcohol played a role in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
