GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A police dog in Oklahoma has a new protective vest thanks to a West Michigan organization.

Officer Andrew Rusticus died in the line of duty of a heart attack in Grand Rapids in 2012. The Andrew Elliot Rusticus Foundation was formed after his death by his family. Rusticus had been training with GRPD as a K-9 handler.

The foundation has been raising money with several organizations, including “The Thin Blue Line” and the GRPD K-9 Unit Foundation for vests for police dogs.  “Cash” in Oklahoma is expected to get his new vest next month.

The foundation donated $2,000 to get “Cash” the vest.
