KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Several people are recovering in the hospital this Christmas morning after a fire ripped through multiple floors in a Kalamazoo home.
Around 1:50 a.m. this morning, Kalamazoo Public Safety responded to a house fire in the 1000 block of Reed.
First responders found a woman at a second-story window. Crews acted fast and were able to rescue her by ladder.
Another man that lived at the residence was badly burned, but escaped the fire with his three-year-old son. The child suffered only a minor burn on his arm. The man was reported to be in critical condition late Friday morning.
The fire was quickly extinguished once crews arrived on scene but the structure itself sustained major damage.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
