GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - An extremely icy stretch of roadway caused a slow commute and some crashes in Grand Rapids Thursday.

Fuller Avenue between Three Mile Road and Leonard iced over this morning for hours.  The roadway was actually closed for a short time as salt trucks were called in.  The salt trucks actually had to drive backwards in some spots to get traction themselves.

More spotty ice patches may happen with light snow expected through tonight.
