WEST MICHIGAN – The coldest air of the season will blast into the area  for the weekend and early next week. The arctic air will combine with winds off Lake Michigan for a chance of significant lake-effect snow.

The graphic above shows the upper level winds for Monday with the coldest air from Hudson Bay into the Great Lakes. Temperatures will only reach the teens on Monday with wind chills likely below zero. Temperatures for West Michigan will stay below average for the week.

West and southwest winds will cross Lake Michigan as several upper level systems pass through the Great Lakes. Significant lake-effect snow will develop late Sunday and continue through Tuesday. The heaviest amounts of snow will likely be along and west of US- 131.
