What a cold start to the morning it was!  Our first temperatures below freezing on the map greeted me this morning as I arrived to work slightly after 2 a.m.  In fact, this morning’s low temperatures were near zero in many spots throughout the region.

These temperatures were already cold enough, but a light 5-10 mph breeze from the south equated to temperatures feeling even colder at times this morning!

At times, many wind chill readings were below zero this morning!  This factors in the air temperature and how high the wind speed is.  This is the “feels like” temperature as you’re outside, and readings this low are dangerous to be outside in for long periods of time.

CANNONSBURG

It’s perfect for snow making, as they got things going overnight into this morning in Cannonsburg as the ski area opens up for the season on Wednesday.  Can’t wait to check that out myself.

A wet pattern sets up for Thursday through Monday as a series of storm systems from the Pacific head our way.  We’ll start off with a wintry mix on Thursday night which transitions to rain Friday and transitions to snow on Saturday evening.

A lot of cold Canadian air is building up, and it looks to head into our area by early next week.

Our coldest temperatures (by far) this season are expected early next week, and will continue for the first half of the week as high temperatures will struggles to get into the teens!  Stay warm this morning and enjoy the brief 40-degree weather this weekend before the winter pattern returns!  Have a great Tuesday!
