West Michigan – A developing storm system will bring a period of moderate to heavy snow overnight Saturday into Sunday. That will be followed by the coldest air of the season for much of next week.

Computer model forecasts show about 2-4 inches of snow over most of West Michigan from Saturday night through Sunday afternoon. Lesser amounts are likely over the southeastern part of the state. Over 4 inches is possible north and northeast of Grand Rapids. The storm is still several days away so snowfall amounts and the heaviest snow band will likely change.

Rain Saturday evening will change to snow around midnight over most of West Michigan.

The storm system will pass into northern Ohio by Sunday morning with moderate to heavy snow for most of the area. Winds will be north-northeast at 15-25 mph with some blowing and drifting.

The snow will taper to flurries by Sunday afternoon over most of the area. Winds will be north-northwest at 15-25 mph. Temperatures will start around 30 in the morning and fall into the 20s during the afternoon.
