NEWTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Two men are dead after an early morning crash in Calhoun County.

The crash happened sometime before 4:00am on Oak Grove Road, south of J Dr. S.

Michigan State Police troopers were called to the scene by a newspaper delivery person who found the pickup truck that had hit a tree.  The two men inside, both in their late 20’s, were pronounced dead at the scene.  Their names have not yet been released.

Police say that it appears the truck was heading south when the driver lost control on the icy road, hitting the tree.  Police say that alcohol and speed also appear to be factors in the crash.  The exact time of the crash has not been determined and police are still investigating.
