BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – Former Emmett Township Public Safety officer Troy Estree has been acquitted on nine counts of criminal sexual conduct with a 15-year-old relative. A jury returned the verdict Wednesday afternoon.

Estree, 45, was accused of raping a 15-year-old relative on two occasions.  The Kalamazoo County Prosecutor handled the case because of Estree’s position as a law enforcement officer.

In August 2015, Estree’s attorney said there was very little evidence against Estree.

Estree is a 10-year veteran of the Emmett Township Public Safety Department. He is married to a Battle Creek police detective, according to his attorney.

Estree is still facing charges of criminal sexual conduct, third degree criminal sexual conduct with an adult relative he allegedly forced to have sex with him in a hot tub.  That trial is scheduled to take place in April.
