BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – Battle Creek Police say that the man wanted for attacking a gas station attendant with a hammer is in custody.

The attack happened at the Citgo Gas Station in the 400 block of Capital Ave. NE on December 28, 2015.  Surveillance video showed the suspect hitting the attendant in the head with a claw hammer.

In early January, police identified the suspect as Navjot Singh, 21.  Battle Creek Police say that Singh was taken into custody this afternoon in New York City.

Police say that the U.S. Marshals from the New York-New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force, the U.S. Marshals from Grand Rapids, and the Michigan State Police aided in capturing Singh.

We’ll have more details when they become available.
