LANSING, Mich. — Dan Carr is a passionate teacher with a mission to expose his students to new cultures and ways of thinking. Carr was named this week’s Michigan Lottery Excellence in Education award winner.
“Well you`re said to be selfless, and that`s a great word, but also you`re intercultural in a lot of respects and you think that`s a big part of the education system,” said Tom Izzo.
“I think it`s a huge part, right now the world is shrinking. There are more people than ever with technology. We have kids from all different parts of the world and we need to be able to function in a multicultural world,” Carr said.
Dan received a five hundred dollar check from the Michigan Lottery and his classroom at Waverly High School with get a five hundred dollar grant.
“It`s important for me to expose student to successful people in the real world and so to me it`s import to bring in speakers from all walks of life,” Carr added.
