GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A 22-year-old man is facing a criminal sexual conduct charge connected to an incident at a Grand Rapids elementary school earlier this week.

Jalen Devonte Harris is charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct, attempted second-degree criminal sexual conduct, two counts of kidnapping or child enticement and two counts of accosting a child for immoral purposes, according to online court records.

He’s being charged as a third time habitual offender.

According to police, Harris allegedly went into River City Scholars Charter Academy, 944 Evergreen St. SE, Tuesday and tried to contact a student.  The student did not know him, according to a release.

Harris later turned himself into police.   He’s scheduled to be back in court Feb. 19.
