Girl hit on way to Grand Rapids school; seriously injured

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - An eight-year-old girl suffered serious injuries Monday morning after getting hit by a car on the way to school.

The accident happened on Baldwin Street near Congress Elementary in Grand Rapids.

The girl was crossing Baldwin when she was hit by a truck driven by another father who had just dropped off his own child at the school. The 59-year-old man has been arrested for Driving on a Suspended License.  Police say he may face additional charges.

The girl was taken to the hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
