West Michigan – A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for parts of our area for lake-effect snow. The advisory will go into effect at 4 PM Tuesday and continue until 10 AM Thursday for mainly the lakeshore counties.

Our Future Track computer model for 6 PM Tuesday shows lake-effect snow increasing along and west of US 131. Winds will be west-northwest so the heaviest snow will fall west and southwest of Grand Rapids.

The lake-effect snow will continue on Wednesday with winds remaining mainly west-northwest. The snow showers will start to diminish overnight Wednesday as moisture becomes limited.

Snowfall totals by Thursday will range from 1-3 inches east of US 131. Heavier snow is expected along the lakeshore with 3-6 inches in most areas. Some snowfall totals southwest of Grand Rapids will likely be over 6 inches.
