GRPD surround home, 3 arrested in connection to stolen vehicle

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Three people are in custody after officers with the Grand Rapids Police Department surrounded a home on the city’s southwest side Saturday morning.

Police say those people are connected to a stolen vehicle that crashed into a fence at a home in the 300 block of Fox Street Southwest around 8:15 a.m. Investigators say that the vehicle had been reported stolen 24 hours earlier.

The suspects ran off following the accident

A K-9 unit led officers to the 200 block of Dickinson Street Southwest, where they surrounded the house.

After about five hours, the three suspects came out.

Police say one of the people involved in the stolen vehicle matched a similar description of a suspect in an armed robbery.

That robbery happened around 5:30 a.m. in the 1000 block of Dickinson Street.

According to officers, the suspect robbed a man at gun point while he was getting ready to leave for work.

Police are currently investigating whether the two incidents are related.

Neighboring homes were evacuated as a precaution.

No injuries have been reported.
