Homeowner, dog survive house fire in Ionia

IONIA, Mich.— A man and his dog survive following a house fire late Friday night.

The Ionia Department of Public Safety responded to a structure fire at 11:58PM on Lynn Avenue.  The first officer at the scene reported that the flames were going through the roof of the home.

Crews were able to get the fire under control, but the home was severely damaged.  No firefighters were harmed while putting out the blaze.

The home owner and his dog got out of the home without injuries.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
