Driver dies after Van Buren County crash

COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 57-year-old man has died after a Feb. 12 crash in Van Buren County.

The crash happened Feb. 12 at 6:05 p.m. at Baseline Road and 64th Street, according to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department.

Officials say Joseph Cecil Scholze lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree.  He died Feb. 17 as a result of his injuries.

According to a release, there was heavy snowfall the night of the crash   Officials also believe Scholze was not wearing his seat belt.
