LANSING, Mich. – An Alto man walked around with a $1 million Powerball winner in his pocket for two months before realizing that he had a lot of cash coming to him.

Daniel Chase bought the Powerball ticket on December 16th at the Speedway on North Alger Road in Alma. According to the Michigan Lottery, he decided to clean out this wallet last week and found three Powerball tickets.

“I always put my tickets in my wallet after I buy them and then I’ll check them after I’ve had them for a while,” said Chase in the lottery press release. “I like waiting because it lets the dream of being a winner go on a little longer, and this time the dream came true.”

His ticket matched the five white balls drawn that for December 16: 09-10-32-42-55.

“When we scanned the ticket, it said to see the clerk. We decided to scan the other tickets to see if they gave the same message, and when they didn’t it started sinking in that we had a big winner.”

The Chases claimed their prize in Lansing Friday.  They say they plan to use the money to help their kids, finish up some home improvements and do some traveling as a family.
