MUSKEGON, Mich. - Gusts of over 50mph are not just knocking out power and taking down tree limbs Friday afternoon, they are also kicking up some massive waves on Lake Michigan.

The wind and warmer temperatures are melting the snow and drying out the sand, making blowing sand an issue at the beach as well.

There is still a considerable amount of ice right along the shoreline and there have been a number of people walking along the shore watching the waves cause the ice chunks to tumble around.

Wind Advisories are posted for the land, but a Gale Warning is also in effect for the lake until 11:00am Saturday.  Waves could become as high as 12 feet with the strong southwesterly winds.

But regardless of the warmer temperatures, the areas along the shore are much cooler.
