BENTON HARBOR, Mich. — The Benton Harbor Lady Tigers beat their opponents in a thrilling double overtime victory, with a final score of 80 to 78. But by far the most impressive stat of the game, was one player’s score of 72 points.
Benton Harbor senior, Kysre Gondrezick broke a long-standing state record for most points scored during a game. Her record-breaking night came during a first-round tournament contest against Buchanan. And this wasn’t a one-time performance. Gondrezick is averaging more than 40 points per game.
After she graduates this year, she will be heading to the University of Michigan to continue her basketball career with the Wolverines.
Before Gondrezick broke it, the previous record was set in 1979 by a player from Detroit Mumford.
