20 Michigan Meijer stores to be remodeled

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Meijer announced Wednesday that it would open nine new stores and remodel more than 30 this year, including several in Michigan.

Many of the new stores will be built in states other than Michigan, but new supercenters will open this year in Sturgis and Flat Rock.  Other new stores are planned in Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin, according to a release from the company.

Of the 32 stores being remodeled, 20 are in Michigan.  Here is a list of the Michigan stores being remodeled:

  • Burton
  • Clinton Township
  • Greenville
  • Hampton Township
  • Holland
  • Ionia
  • Lapeer
  • Lenox Township
  • Marysville
  • Port Huron
  • Roseville
  • Royal Oak
  • Scio Township
  • Shelby Township
  • Southfield
  • Standale
  • Warren
  • White Lake Township
  • Wixom

The remodeling includes expanding grocery, health and beauty sections as well as redesigned layouts, according to a release.  A Meijer spokesperson did not have a specific timeline for the renovations to be completed.

Meijer said in a release it’s investing more than $400 million in the project.
