The last 24 hours have helped us catch up in our winter snowfall deficit.  With spring only about two weeks away, winter wanted to make sure that it wasn’t forgotten and dumped over a foot of snow in many locations.

Snowfall totals ranged anywhere from 3 to 14 inches, with some of the highest totals in Barry County.

There’s another opportunity for some light snow Wednesday morning as well, especially in many areas south of Interstate 94.  Most of Kalamazoo should avoid snowfall during the morning rush tomorrow, but if you’re near the Michigan/Indiana border, you’ll need to give yourself some extra time tomorrow morning.

Snowfall will spread a little bit further north during the first half of the day as well.  In comparison to yesterday’s event, this will be incredibly light.  But up to 2 inches of snowfall is certainly enough to make things slick in the morning.

CPC TEMP TRENDS (5)

Now for everyone who is tired of the snow and ready for spring, we’ve got some good news for you.  The National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center says we’ve got a 70 percent chance of above normal temperatures for the first two weeks of the month.  Average high temperatures right now are ranging in the upper 30s at this time, so there will be substantial melting taking place very soon.

The core of this warmer air starts to settle into our area as early as the beginning of next week.  There’s plenty of it to go around for a couple of days, as well, so it won’t be incredibly short lived.

Future Track temps show highs off to the southwest well into the 70s by early next week!  We’ll be close to 50 on Monday, if not exceeding that in some locations.  Look for low to mid 60s in West Michigan by the middle of next week!
