DETROIT, Mich. -- The first hearing in a potential class action lawsuit against the Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency took place Tuesday in the Michigan Court of Claims in Detroit.

The hearing centered around the motion by the state attorney general's office to dismiss the case. The AG alleges the Court of Claims lacks jurisdiction to hear the case and that no damage has been done to the plaintiffs.

Judge Cynthia Stephens must determine whether to grant the motion to dismiss the case or move forward. She said she will attempt to make that decision within the next two weeks.
