GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - David LaGrand is the new representative in Michigan's 75th District.

LaGrand (D) beat Blake Edmonds (R) 77% to 23% with all of the precincts reporting.

The seat was vacated by Brandon Dillon (D), who took a role working for the Michigan Democratic Party.

LaGrand attributes his success to past experiences, including, but not limited to: his service on the Grand Rapids School Board, Grand Rapids City Commission, and owning several small businesses.

He told FOX 17 Tuesday night that he is extremely excited to represent the city of Grand Rapids in the State House and to give a voice to those who need it most.

"Of course I've got to look at my district first, but being able to look at the whole state and work for children in Flint, work for children in Detroit, work on state wide issues and lay foundational things that are going to help everyone in the state. It’s an exciting moment for me," said LaGrand.
