Man in custody following vehicle chase with police

BATTLE CREEK, Mich.— A 27-year-old man is in custody following a vehicle chase with the Battle Creek Police early Saturday morning.

Around 3am, police saw a vehicle driving at an extremely high speed near Emmett Street and Capital Avenue NE.   Police say the driver ran a red light and almost hit a different car going through the intersection.

Officers tried to pull over the vehicle, but it wouldn’t stop.  After a short pursuit through a neighborhood, the vehicle stopped at the corner of Wagner Drive and Emmett Street.

The driver was taken into custody.  He was charged with flee and elude and OWI.
