Teen’s death at Wyoming park now a homicide

WYOMING, Mich. — The Wyoming Department of Public Safety is now investigating a teenager's suspicious death at a park as a homicide, and a suspect is in police custody.

According to Wyoming Public Safety, at midday Saturday officers responded to a report of a body found on the west side of Lions Park, located in the 3800 block of Dunbar Avenue SW, where they found a teenage male dead at the scene.

That victim has now been identified as Michael White, 16, of Wyoming. A relative told FOX 17 he was a junior at Wyoming High School.

Police told FOX 17 the teen suffered head trauma and the body was discovered at 11:19 a.m. Saturday by a passer-by who was walking their dog.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

Public Safety officers canvassed the neighborhood for potential witnesses.

They said a suspect is in custody who was known to White.
