LANSING, Mich. – When you receive a lottery ticket as a gift, it seems only right to pay off their house.

That’s what an Ionia County man is doing with the $100,000 he won in the Michigan Lottery’s Bonus Ball Bingo instant ticket game.

According to the lottery, Gabe Smith of Pewamo got the ticket from his mom. She had bought it at the Muir Mini Mart.

After some question whether or not the ticket was a winner, the Lottery’s PR division determined it was one of the $100,000 winners.  Smith went to Lansing Friday and claimed the prize.

Smith told the Lottery that he plans to pay off his mother’s house, buy a new computer and save the remainder.
