Man arrested for using counterfeit cash in Calhoun County, drug charges follow

CALHOUN COUNTY, Mich. — A 42-year-old man was arrested after allegedly trying purchase a pair of shoes with a counterfeit $100 bill on Friday.

It happened around 2:00 p.m. several blocks from Coolidge near North Avenue in Pennfield Township.

Officials with the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office said the victim involved agreed to meet the man to make the purchase via Facebook.  The victim recognized the fake cash and followed the suspect to a home in the area of Coolidge and North Avenue. Police tried to talk with the man, but he took off. Police later caught up with him and he was arrested for possession of heroin and  cocaine.

During the investigation, police also arrested a 22-year-old man on an outstanding warrant. They also said they identified identified a 21-year-old man involved in the case.
