Police: Arrest could be tied to string of Muskegon robberies

MUSKEGON, Mich. — Muskegon Police said Sunday afternoon that a man arrested for an armed robbery earlier in the day may be linked to several other robberies in the Muskegon area last week.

On Sunday, Muskegon Police Department officers arrested a 24-year-old Muskegon man for an armed robbery at a Muskegon gas station that occurred at midmorning Sunday.

They said the man, who was being held in the Muskegon County Jail, is also a person of interest in a series of incidents that occurred over the last week throughout Muskegon County.

A task force of investigators from the Muskegon Police, the Norton Shores Police Department, the Muskegon County Sheriff’s Department, the Michigan Department of Corrections and the Michigan State Police have been working on a series of similar armed robberies that were reported from Tuesday to Thursday of last week.

Search warrants have been served and evidence supporting the man’s involvement in Sunday’s armed robbery plus other offenses was recovered.
