WEST MICHIGAN- The last several days have been up and down, so what better than to carry into a new month with another big swing in temperatures and precipitation.

Garry AM Dayplanner (9)

During most of the daylight hours today, we’ll remain dry and mild.  One thing you’ll notice is gradual cloud cover increase throughout the day.

RPM 2 (5)

Light to moderate rain showers develop this evening and spread throughout the majority of West Michigan.  You’ll also enjoy something very similar in the morning as we can expect widespread moderate rainfall.

The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has included portions of West Michigan in a “Marginal” risk for severe weather Thursday.  This means that widespread thunderstorms are likely, but severe weather will be extremely isolated in these areas.

RPM 3 (4)

As the cold front approaches Thursday afternoon, this will be the catalyst for t-storm development.  Expect the front to move from the NW to the SE anywhere from 2-6 PM tomorrow.

Advanced Planning (2)

A breakdown of what you’ve just looked at goes as follows: mainly rain to start, followed by afternoon rumbles.  There will be the potential for stronger wind gusts as well, but as I mentioned, a majority of the severe threat is much further south.  I’m not even just talking about Michigan-Indiana border south, I mean well into central Indiana.

RPM 5

Naturally, because it’s Michigan and it’s early spring,  Mother Nature decides to flip a switch.  As the cold front moves through the area, colder air wraps around behind it, and snow showers develop.  These will linger off and on through Saturday as well.

Temperatures will remain in the mid to upper 30s, so a rain/snow mix is likely at best.  There isn’t a lot of moisture associated with this storm either, so don’t expect accumulation to be a big story for the weekend either.
