HOLLAND, Mich. — Holland Police say a 27-year-old Saginaw man has been charged after leading police on a chase in a stolen SUV Tuesday evening.

Jonathan Edward Wilson was charged Wednesday with fleeing and eluding, operating while intoxicated, receiving stolen property and resisting and obstructing police.

According to a release, a Holland police officer spotted Wilson in a Chevy Tahoe near Lincoln Avenue and 29th Street at about 6:47 p.m. Tuesday.   Police say the officer confirmed that the vehicle had been stolen from the Grand Haven area.

When police attempted to stop the SUV, Wilson allegedly sped off, leading officers on a chase that ended near 96th Avenue and Adams Street south of Zeeland.  Police say Wilson drove off the road and got stuck in a ditch while trying to avoid a spike strip.

He then allegedly fled on foot before being tased by police and arrested.

Wilson reportedly exceeded speeds of 100 mph while driving the stolen SUV, according to a release.   He allegedly struck a vehicle near 48th Avenue and 138th Street in Allegan County during the chase.  There were no injuries.

The chase involved Holland and Zeeland police, the Allegan and Ottawa county sheriff’s departments and Michigan State Police.
